SHENZHEN, China, Nov. 14, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — On November 13, the\u00a0opening ceremony of the\u00a02024 ASEAN-China Greater Bay Area (GBA)\u00a0Economic Cooperation (Qianhai) Forum was held\u00a0in Qianhai,\u00a0Shenzhen\u00a0city, China. Under the theme “Technological\u00a0Leadership, Industrial Synergy,”\u00a0the forum features\u00a05\u00a0sub-forums, enterprise\u00a0exchange exhibitions, and industrial cooperation matchmaking events. Over 1,000 representatives from government departments, business associations, think tanks, and enterprises from China and ASEAN countries attended the opening ceremony and related activities.<\/p>\n
Given their\u00a0geographical proximity and cultural affinities, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and ASEAN have long engaged in win-win\u00a0cooperation as\u00a0each other’s largest trading partners. In his keynote speech, Mr. Zheng Yongnian, President\u00a0of the Institute for International Affairs, Qianhai and Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, emphasized that\u00a0the GBA and ASEAN countries should work\u00a0together\u00a0to address global challenges and achieve sustainable development.<\/p>\n
Statistics released by the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone\u00a0at the forum shown that,\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0signing ceremony\u00a0for 2024\u00a0economic and trade\u00a0projects between the GBA and ASEAN, representatives from enterprises and business associations\u00a0in two regions signed 15 projects with a total contract value of\u00a029.99 billion\u00a0yuan. To date, the forum\u00a0has facilitated trade exceeding 30 billion yuan and driven total investment close to 5 billion\u00a0yuan.<\/p>\n
The 2024 ASEAN-China\u00a0GBA\u00a0Overseas Study Support Program\u00a0was also officially launched at the forum. The program aims to\u00a0support the establishment of the Qianhai International Education Foundation initiated by the Institute for International Affairs, Qianhai.
